Liverpool rumoured target 'rejected Man United' before choosing next club

Karim Adeyemi's agent claims that Manchester United wanted to sign his client before the Red Bull Salzburg star settled on a move to Borussia Dortmund instead.

The 20-year-old striker has made a huge impact in the Austrian league this season, scoring 23 goals and was rumoured to have been of interest to Liverpool as well as several other top European clubs.

But the exciting young German, who is following in the footsteps of Erling Haaland, appears to be well on course to continue his rise with Dortmund in the Bundesliga as Haaland finalises a move to Manchester City.

Adeyemi's agent, Thomas Solomon, has claimed that the Red Devils made strong enquires but look set to miss out on another transfer target.

Solomon told journalist Fabrizio Romano: "We’re now close to completing the deal with Borussia Dortmund. There will be no release clause included into his five-year deal.

"Rangnick? Yes, Manchester United wanted to enter the race - but we want BVB."

There has also been plenty of speculation United were keen to bring Haaland to Old Trafford but will almost certainly see the Norwegian turn out for the blue side of Manchester next season instead.
