Liverpool rocked as five teens injured in knife and gun attacks in one week

Five teenagers were left with injuries following a horrific spate of attacks across Merseyside in the space of a week.

Victims have been left with life-changing and life-threatening injuries after vicious assaults that touched every corner of Liverpool over the last week.

Among those who were injured included a 15-year-old girl, a teenage boy from West Derby School, two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy.

People living in Toxteth, Tuebrook, Formby and in Liverpool City Centre have spoken out in shock after the incidents which saw police cordon off streets.

Hundreds of ECHO readers have shared their disgust over knife and gun crime in Merseyside, which police have condemned and are warning those responsible they will bring them to justice.

Here are the incidents that have happened over the last week.

Schoolgirl shot at bus stop as man arrives at hospital with gunshot wound

Emergency services were called to Upper Warwick Street shortly after 5pm to reports that a girl had been shot.

The 15-year-old was rushed to hospital with serious condition after being shot in the upper body.Three people were arrested in connection with the incident.

A 27-year-old man from Toxteth, was arrested last night, on Wednesday, March 2, on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm without a certificate.

Previously, a 21-year-old man from Toxteth was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life on Tuesday evening.

A 60-year-old man from Toxteth who had earlier been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has now been released under investigation.

The 15-year-old girl's family spoke to the ECHO and described the teen, who they did not want to name to protect her identity, as "shy" and hardworking.

A GoFundMe page has now been set up by a family member to raise money for her future and recovery.

Speaking to the ECHO, one family member said: "She doesn't really go out much, she would go to school and come back. She is always doing her school work."

Boy stabbed and slashed outside West Derby School

Merseyside Police confirmed a boy had been stabbed in the buttocks and also suffered a slash wound to the wrist at West Derby School on Thursday, March 3.

Emergency services were called at around 3pm to the all boys high school in Tuebrook, when students were leaving at the end of the day.

A large police cordon was put in place whilst officers attended the scene and forensics were seen taking photographs and examining the area.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries and was described as being in a stable condition. He has since been released.

Another teenager boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and was taken to for police questioning.

He has been released on conditional bail.

Boys 'held at knifepoint' in 'appalling' Q-Park attack

A boy was left scared to leave his own home after being "held at knifepoint" in an "appalling" attack at a city centre Q-Park.

A woman told the ECHO her brother met up with his friends on Sunday, March 6.

The teenager was with a group of other 15-year-olds who were waiting for their parents to pick them up at a city centre car park when they were "approached by a group of lads".

One of the men reportedly pulled out a knife and her brother and two other friends had their bikes stolen during the "horrible attack", which even left one youngster in hospital with injuries.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said two people were arrested following the incident.

Neighbour 'speechless' after churchyard stabbing in 'pleasant' town

Two suspects rode away on bikes after someone was stabbed in a church yard.

Merseyside Police rushed to a cemetery on School Lane in Formby at around 4.55pm on Tuesday, March 8, following reports of a stabbing.

Once at the scene officers found a ' male' had been stabbed, but a spokeswoman for the force did not confirm the victim's age. He was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Several police vans and cars arrived at the scene along with a number of ambulances.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "It was reported that the two male suspects rode off on bikes after the incident."

A woman who lives in Formby and was walking near the stabbing scene said: “I couldn’t believe what happened when my husband told me.

"Things like this are happening far too often in Merseyside. It seems like it’s just the normal to carry a knife and it is just so so wrong.”
