Liverpool restaurant The Refinery announces closure with 'bittersweet emotions' after seven years

A Liverpool restaurant is closing after seven years in business.

Owners of The Refinery, on Hope Street, have announced its upcoming closure after seven years with “bittersweet emotions”. The Refinery opened its doors in 2016, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The restaurant features contemporary décor, with Moroccan tiling, bare wooden tables, leather banquette seating, rough plastered walls and window rope lights. The outdoor seating areas are also said to create a “holiday feel”.

Now, the team at The Refinery has shared the news of its closure. Taking to Facebook, they wrote: “To all our friends! It's with a mix of bittersweet emotions that we announce the permanent closure of The Refinery Bar and Kitchen on Hope Street, Liverpool on June 12th.

“Let's make this last week memorable and celebrate the good times together – swing by and enjoy the amazing food and drinks before we bid farewell!”

Fans of the restaurant were quick to share their feelings about the upcoming closure. Beneath the Facebook post, one person said: “So sad this is closing so many happy times in there.”

A second wrote: “So sorry to read this, had many great times in there, I was only in last week. Such a shame, hope all the staff get sorted with new jobs ASAP x”. Another added: “Aww sorry to hear this, we’ve had many meals here and all have been excellent and your staff are fabulous, good luck to you all.”

The Refinery will close its doors on Hope Street next Monday, June 12.
