Liverpool have rejected a second offer from Bayern Munich for Sadio Mane and are demanding close to £42.75million for the forward.
The Reds swiftly dismissed the latest bid from the Bundesliga side, who proposed a £30m package having seen their initial £25m approach turned down last week.
Bayern were willing to offer a £23.5m set fee - up by £2.5m on their first bid - and a similar increase to the add-ons which could have totalled £6.5m. However, it is understood to reach the maximum amount would have involved Bayern winning the Champions League in all three of the seasons they want Mane to sign up for, as well as the player winning the Ballon d'Or for three consecutive years.

YOUR SHOUT: What do Liverpool need to look for in the summer transfer market?
Liverpool are believed to be bemused at nature of the add-ons which they regard as a joke given the unlikely chance of them coming to fruition.
They are also using Bayern's own valuation of Robert Lewandowski as a guide for their price for Mane. Lewandowski has a widely-reported personal agreement to move to Barcelona this summer, but the transfer has hit a stumbling block with Bayern wanting €50m for a player who, like Mane, is approaching the final 12 months of his contract but is three years older than the Reds forward.
Mane has yet to confirm his future intentions but it has become increasingly apparent the 30-year-old wants to leave Liverpool having thus far not engaged in talks over a new deal.
Reports from Germany have claimed Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic wants a meeting with Anfield counterpart Julian Ward to discuss a proposed deal. Liverpool, though, will not entertain such discussions until Bayern submit an offer far closer to their valuation of the player, with the ball now firmly in the court of the German side.
