Liverpool have been given a major boost ahead of their Premier League fixture against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening, with the return to training of three players.

Centre-back Joel Matip was photographed all smiles at the AXA training ground in Kirkby on Monday afternoon, as he joined in exercises and sessions with the main group.

Frenkie de Jong sparks Liverpool and Premier League transfer speculation after airport sighting

Reported Liverpool transfer target Frenkie de Jong has sparked further speculation over his future after arriving at an airport.

The Barcelona star has been linked as a potential target for the Reds in recent days, as they appear to step up their pursuit of a midfielder. Jurgen Klopp admitted last week that Liverpool may “go for a midfielder” before the transfer window closes.

De Jong has been one of the names linked with a move to Liverpool. Chelsea and Manchester United are the other two clubs who have been tipped to make a move this summer, with a £60m price tag being quoted in certain reports.

With speculation over his future appearing to ramp up, De Jong has been filmed arriving at Barcelona airport. According to Spanish news outlet El Chiringuito TV, De Jong is flying to London.
