Caoimhin Kelleher 7
Almost caught out of position in opening seconds and no chance with City goals but good saves from Gundogan and Ake.
James Milner 6
Exposed at times up against the younger Palmer but willing runner and created equaliser before hobbling off with injury before half-time.
Joe Gomez 5
Beaten too easily by Haaland for the opener and bag of nerves before shifting to right-back where he gradually improved second half.
As it happened: Man City vs Liverpool goal updates and analysis
Joel Matip 7
Just about helped Liverpool keep things together defensively on occasion and brought ball out of defence to spark leveller. Solid showing on his return.
Andy Robertson 6
Up against the lively Mahrez, gradually started to win the battle before interval and became a threat down flank. Fooled by the City man, though, for the home side’s second.
Stefan Bajcetic 6
Tough going with Liverpool all over the place early on but stuck to his task and began to win tackles. Booked and subbed.
Thiago Alcantara 7
Another slow starter but his neat touch and passing range soon helped drag Liverpool into the game. Subbed.
Harvey Elliott 6
Attempts to move the ball forward quickly weren’t always successful first half but found some pockets in midfield. Held on to the ball too much on occasion. Subbed.
Mohamed Salah 7
Appeared to have the better of Ake first half although City ensured the defender wasn’t exposed too often. On hand to bring Liverpool level a second time and continued to be a threat.
Darwin Nunez 6
A danger in behind with his pace but should have done better with three good chances. Ran away from Laporte to lay on Salah’s equaliser.
Fabio Carvalho 6
Knocked off the ball too easily at times but lively in the final third and took his equaliser expertly. Subbed.
Nat Phillips (for Milner 38) 6
Unexpected outing for the centre-back, who introduced himself with great tackle on Haaland.
Fabinho (for Bajcetic 46) 6
Bypassed a bit too readily in the midfield battle but some good tackles and fine goalline block late on. Booked.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Carvalho 46) 7
Excellent pass sent Nunez away to set up the second equaliser. Had decent penalty claim waved away.
Jordan Henderson (for Elliott 57) 7
Brought some energy to the midfield as matters became more hectic.
Naby Keita (for Thiago 70) 6
Successfully avoided injury. Booked.
