Liverpool player ratings as Niamh Fahey good and four others impress despite Continental Cup defeat vs Man City

Manchester City put Liverpool's hopes of progression in the Continental League on hold with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday night.

Liverpool took to the field at Prenton Park looking to continue their flawless form in the competition after beating Sunderland, Leicester and Blackburn Rovers during their cup run this season. However the visitors took the lead early in the second half, Filippa Angeldahl rifling the ball home after the hosts failed to clear a Julie Blakstad corner.

Gareth Taylor's side doubled their lead in the 74th minute with substitute Lauren Hemp dancing past the Liverpool defence down the left and putting the ball on a plate for Mary Fowler, who coolly found the back of the net. The result means Liverpool will have to wait and see if they progress to the quarter-finals as one of the two best second-placed sides.
