Alisson Becker 9
Held weak Alonso free-kick first half and then smothered bravely from same player, picking up a bang in the process. Another fine save from Pulisic after break. Superb save denied Mount in shoot-out.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 8
Helped Liverpool dictate the opening half-hour with his drive and distribution, one superb pass sending Diaz away. Some difficult moments immediately after break against Alonso, but soon rediscovered form.
Ibrahima Konate 7
Immediately on the front-foot in his battle with Lukaku and barely gave the Belgian an inch throughout. Strong up against Kante in extra time.
Virgil van Dijk 7
Similarly dealt with Lukaku first half and looked to turn Chelsea around with long diagonals. Not much threat at set-pieces, however. Subbed.

Andy Robertson 7
Offered Diaz plenty of support down the left and much fresher in his defensive duties. Should have done better when hitting post from close range late on in normal time and tired. Subbed.
Jordan Henderson 7
Filling in for Fabinho, Liverpool’s first-half superiority meant he was largely looking forward before holes needed to be plugged during spells of Chelsea pressure.
Thiago Alcantara 7
The Spaniard’s strong start echoed that of the team, with his passing pulling Chelsea into areas they didn’t want to be. Became an influence again during the latter stages.
Naby Keita 7
Started well and maintained his level before interval, pressing hard and maintaining possession doggedly. More difficult second half, though. Subbed.
Mohamed Salah 6
One or two moments of promise but struggled to get into the game before being replaced shortly after half-hour through injury.
Sadio Mane 8
Caused problems both when dropping deep and getting involved with the Chelsea centre-backs, and good understanding with Diaz, not least when creating good chance. Non-stop from the Senegalese, who deserved better than to miss in shoot-out.
Luis Diaz 9
Chelsea found him impossible to handle in the first 20 minutes, twice putting dangerous crosses and denied by a combination of Mendy and Chalobah when clear. Hit post second half and continued creating chances. Subbed.
Diogo Jota (for Salah 33) 7
Ran at the Chelsea defence from the off and just too high with a clever flick when ghosting in at near post first half.
James Milner (for Keita 74) 7
Put in some thumping challenges and cross should have been converted by Robertson.
Joel Matip (for Van Dijk 90) 7
Vital interception moments after coming on and later fine defending to deny Ziyech.
Roberto Firmino (for Diaz 98) 6
Made his comeback to a rousing reception but struggled to make an impact.
Kostas Tsimikas (for Robertson 111) 8
A few minutes for the Greek Scouser - but the decisive contribution in the shoot-out. What a fella.
