Caoimhin Kelleher - 5
Didn't have much to do at all but conceded in really soft circumstances. The Irish keeper will be annoyed with how Lyon found their way back into the game after the mix-up with Robertson.
James Milner - 7
Played a mid-season friendly in Dubai in an unfamiliar position at the age of nearly 37 in the exact same way he would have a cup final in his 20s. Beyond professional. Went into midfield for the second half.
Joe Gomez - 6
Was not unduly troubled for the most part by Lyon's attack. Was confident in possession and coasted through the game.

Joel Matip - 8
The biggest plus point of Liverpool's night, he was rock solid on his return to the team. Early clearance from a low cross was an important one and he never gave either Moussa Dembele or Alexandre Lacazette a sniff. Only lasted 45 minutes, having not played since October.
Andy Robertson - 5
Motored up and down the left in trademark style and worked himself into a couple of good positions. Will be disappointed with Lyon's equaliser though when he got caught in a mix-up with Kelleher.
Stefan Bajcetic - 8
Young Spaniard is looking more and more like a first-team player by the minute. Snapped into tackles and provided a solid base for the attacking players to build upon in midfield. Harshly booked for a well-timed tackle on Corentin Tolisso.
Thiago Alcantara - 7
Was his usual classy self in the middle of the park. Played the game at his own pace and was never ruffled by Lyon's midfield pressing.
Harvey Elliott - 6
Was neat and tidy generally but one heavy touch ruined a great chance to make it 2-0 and he only lasted around 30 minutes after being forced off with a potential injury.
Mohamed Salah - 6
Expertly carved open Lyon for the penalty with a wonderful ball to Firmino but fluffed his lines from 12 yards. Planted another header just over the bar shortly after but didn't have many chances after that.
Roberto Firmino - 7
Tricks and flicks wowed the crowd every time. Seemed determined to enjoy himself out there. Lasted just over an hour before being part of a slew of substitutes.
Fabio Carvalho - 7
Couldn't miss for the first goal after less than 40 seconds and looked bright and inventive on the left of Liverpool's front three. With Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota still sidelined with injuries, he has a chance to make his name out wide in the coming weeks and months.
Subs
Melkamu Frauendorf - 6
Was only on for around 15 minutes in place of Elliott. Didn't get a chance to do much.
Adrian - 7
Could do nothing about either goal conceded but made a great stop to keep it at 2-1 after Lyon cut Liverpool's defence open. Also denied Sael Kumbedi with a smart save. Few clubs can boast a third choice goalkeeper of such experience and quality.
Kostas Tsimikas - 6
Typically tenacious cameo from the Greek left-back, he was involved in several tussles with the Lyon players.
Nat Phillips - 5
Made sure his vocal demands to his younger colleagues could be heard as he tried to lead the defence in the second period, but gaps started to appear the further the game went on.
Calvin Ramsay - 5
Went close with a left-footed shot early into the second half but was part of a patchwork quilt of a defence that started to tire and allow Lyon more and more chances.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 5
Unable to impact the game in the way he would have liked. Started on the left and ended up in the centre of midfield but the match passed him by when he might have liked to offer a timely reminder of his talents.
Naby Keita - 6
First minutes since the Community Shield in July. Showed some nice touches in midfield but was part of a slew of changes that inevitably disrupted the flow of the overall performance.
Bobby Clark - 6
With a Premier League appearance already to his name, Clark is clearly rated by Klopp but he was unable to have any real impact on this one.
Dom Corness - 6
Combines lovely balance with a great left foot, Corness was unlucky not to have one threaded pass come off early after his introduction.
Luke Chambers - 6
Might be disappointed for not making the challenge that could have prevented the assist for Lyon's second goal but was asked to do a job in a makeshift defence by that point.
Ben Doak - 7
Exciting young Scottish winger was keen to run at the defence at every turn but found himself blocked off a number of times by Lyon's more muscular defenders. One excellent surge late on almost played in Keita.
Layton Stewart - 5
Wasn't really on the field long much to do a whole lot. Was replaced after coming on by Jake Cain.
Jake Cain - 5
Came on for Stewart to lead the line but couldn't feel his way into the game.
