Caoimhin Kelleher 9
Some nice goal kicks first half. Forced into routine saves from Dobbin and McGoldrick in last 10 minutes, and three excellent stops in the shoot-out.
Calvin Ramsay 7
Impressed with athleticism and tenacious defending while also eager to support down the right. Saw plenty of possession.
Nat Phillips 6
Headed away crosses for fun and diligent at the back, although his passing wasn’t always on point.

Joe Gomez 6
Few issues defensively although Cashin tried to win a penalty from him before break.
Kostas Tsimikas 7
Forced to defend at times by the speedy Mendez-Laing, but still able to whip in some crosses. Constant outlet second half.
Stefan Bajcetic 6
Kept things simple as the midfield anchor while trying to initiate attacks. Will have learned so much, and brave to take first penalty in shoot-out despite missing.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 7
Close with a volley and caused panic with one cross. Became more influential the longer the game progressed and created fine chance for Elliott. Good minutes.
Bobby Clark 6
Showed glimpses of why he is so highly-rated in a confident, classy first-half display before fading after break. Subbed.
Melkamu Frauendorf 6
Offered himself for a number of runs that weren’t spotted and did well with some defensive cover. Good engine. Subbed.
Layton Stewart 6
Missed a decent chance he had prompted with a good interception. Not afraid to put himself about. Subbed.
Fabio Carvalho 5
One or two nice touches but far too peripheral during the first half on the left flank. More involvement after break but could have done more. Subbed.
Roberto Firmino (for Fraudenorf 66) 7
Caused Derby problems immediately with his touch and vision. Had header saved. Less said about his penalty the better, though.
Harvey Elliott (for Clark 66) 7
Fine close control in tight spaces and added tempo to attacking efforts. Could have netted winner late on - and then did from the spot.
Darwin Nunez (for Stewart 66) 6
Not much room in which to operate, but just about netted his penalty.
Ben Doak (for Carvalho 74) 7
Great moment for the teenager, who showed real willingness to take on opposing players.
