Liverpool pizza chain confirms closure with 'very heavy heart'

Liverpool’s popular Dough pizza chain has announced it is closing its doors across the city.

The chain, which launched in 2017, has four venues in Merseyside including Litherland, Walton, Birkenhead and St Helens. Owner Ryan Lynch also runs Lynchburger, which has venues in Liverpool and Wirral too.

Now, after five years in business, Dough is closing its doors though no official date has been confirmed. The Dough team said it is “with a very heavy heart” that they confirmed the news.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Dough said: “It’s with a very heavy heart that today we announce the end of DOUGH. We’ve had some amazing times, some extremely tough times, and have been on an amazing journey.

“From starting in Bootle in a kitchen unit, to opening our first shop, to growing to four sites so quickly, it’s been a blast. Firstly, and most importantly, I’d like to thank every single customer who has had a pizza or halloumi fries from us. Your support has been unbelievable and will always mean so much to us.

“It’s not all bad news. We will be open for a few more weeks, and would ask everyone who has had a DOUGH before, to have it again one last time. Support us just one more time and help us end on a good note.

“TO SAY THANK YOU, WE WILL BE OFFERING 20% OFF EVERY ORDER WHEN YOU ORDER VIA OUR WEBSITE OR APP. This will continue till we run out of DOUGH. Use code FINAL20 at checkout. Again THANK YOU. “

Beneath the post, which received hundreds of likes, fans of the popular restaurants shared their thoughts on the news. One person said: “Absolutely gutted, best pizzas in bootle, sorry to hear this”.

A second wrote: “Devastated! My favourite take away” and a third added: “Sorry to see you guys go!” Another said: “Omg this is so sad, best pizzas and halloumi fries ever”.

Ryan Lynch, owner of Dough and Lynchburger, told the ECHO : “Due to some internal matters affecting the business over the last 14 months, I have taken the difficult decision to close Dough. Due to the recent break up of our Restaurant Group, I’ve made the decision to end all association and start again, as I felt it was the right time.

“The good news is, no staff will lose their jobs and will all be offered positions across our new restaurant group. Thank you to every customer who has backed us along this journey. We will be back bigger and better very soon.”
