Liverpool party spirit on full show as Vengaboys spark special moment on Eurovision final day

This video shows the moment the crowds at the Eurovision Village turned into a massive dance troupe.

Thousands of ticket-holders gathered for hours in the beating sun ahead of the Eurovision Village on the historic Pier Head opening to the public on Saturday. There were cheers from fans dressed as Ukrainian acts Verka Serduchka and Kalush Orchestra and families in Union flag outfits as the stewards removed the barriers.

Some ran straight to the front of the stage to claim a prime spot for the performances from acts including Claire Richards from Steps and Katrina Leskanich of Katrina And The Waves, ahead of the screening of the grand final from 8pm on the big screens. After watching X Factor runners up Jedward perform their own take on Oasis's Wonderwall, the crowd was treated to a set from late 90s Eurodance music group Vengaboys.

After performing their hit song 'Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!' in the brilliant sunshine they sang YMCA to the delight of the crowd who all spontaneously began dancing the iconic moves for the hit tune. hundreds of people can be seen with huge smiles on their faces as they throw their hands in the air to sign out the letters.

Singing at the top of their lungs, Eurovision fans gleefully joined in the chorus with the Vengaboys leading the crowd, later they shout to them: "You make us feel like home, we love you Liverpool." The EuroVillage has seen a host of amazing acts through out the week, from Charlotte Church and Sophie Ellis-Bextor to The Lightning Seeds and Jamie Webster.

Thousands of people have passed through the gates and basked in the electric atmosphere along the waterfront. Tonight it will show a stream of the live grand final that is taking place at the M&S Band Arena from 8pm.
