Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group have made an investment into a production company founded by tennis superstar Naomi Osaka.
The four-time Grand Slam champion launched the company in June of last year with her long-time agent and business partner Stuart Duguid, with the launch done in partnership with basketball icon and FSG partner LeBron James through his and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company.
FSG made an investment into SpringHill in October 2021 alongside Liverpool kit partners Nike and RedBird Capital Partners. Red Bird are the New York fund that took an 11 per cent stake in FSG for $750m back in March 2021.

The latest fundraising round sought fresh capital for Osak'a company, Hana Kuma, to allow it to spin off from under the umbrella of SpringHill. FSG were joined by SpringHill and Epic Games, the makers of Fortnite and a fellow investor in SpringHill.
The latest move expands FSG’s portfolio further and adds further potential opportunities for their assets to collaborate.
One area of focus moving forward for Liverpool is its digital storytelling and how it presents the club to a global audience to allow it to make the most of opportunities that exist in new and emerging markets.
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner last year hinted that the club could have a working relationship with SpringHill in the future, with James and Carter’s firm positioning themselves as a culture company, one that has genuine insight on how to approach the North American market and different demographics.
Osaka’s Hana Kuma company is also one that has a unique focus, the aim being produce scripted and non-fiction content, with a special focus on people of colour.
