Liverpool owner John Henry sent warning amid fan split on FSG decision

John Henry’s revelation that there is no plan to sell Liverpool provided some much-need clarity ahead of what promises to be a pivotal summer for the club.

Liverpool's struggles on the pitch coupled with uncertainty off it had threatened to undo some of the good work Jurgen Klopp had done at the club since his arrival in 2015.

With a Champions League spot disappearing over the horizon and lacking the financial muscle of their traditional top-four rivals and new kids on the block Newcastle, the Reds were in danger of being left behind.

OPINION: John Henry has just given Liverpool exactly what they needed

While a full sale was never explicitly mentioned by FSG, there was suggestions Liverpool's American owners were trying to flush out interest and a takeover would rejuvenate the club to provide much-needed transfer funds for a summer overhaul.

However, Henry has now seemingly ruled out selling the club, instead concentrating his efforts on attracting a 'strategic partner' to provide both capital and expertise.

It is a decision that has split the Reds' online fanbase pretty much down the middle.

Responding to an Echo poll on the developments, 39% of respondents said they were ‘pleased’ with Henry's comments that the club was not for sale, with 42% saying they were not pleased.

Perhaps reflecting the uncertainty surrounding the revelation the club is no longer for sale, 19% of supporters were not sure either way.

Overall, fans have been happy with FSG’s stewardship of the club, however, with 45% still rating their ownership as good. There were 13% who felt their tenure had been great, while 26% were firmly in the okay camp.

However, 15% judged their ownership to have been poor or very poor.

Asked if they were satisfied with the amount the club has provided Jurgen Klopp for transfers, a whopping 84% of fans to our poll voted no.

Would have voted the same way as fans in the ECHO poll? You can submit your answers to Henry's comments below:
