Liverpool news: Reds receive Moises Caicedo transfer boost as Jurgen Klopp drops hint

Liverpool's season may be winding down but the news at Anfield is only ramping up.

Following the Reds' rampant 6-1 win at Leeds on Monday, Jurgen Klopp's side have a slim chance of finishing in the Champions League places, despite their wretched form in 2023. With Nottingham Forest on the agenda this Saturday in the Premier League, Liverpool fans are also hoping for some positivity off the pitch as the summer transfer window looms.

Klopp is keen to rebuild his squad over the summer months, with particular emphasis on reshaping his ageing midfield. The Reds' stars of years gone by such as Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have shown their frailties this season, with their manager on the hunt for fresh blood.

Here's a round-up of the latest news from Anfield.

Caicedo hints at move

Moises Caicedo is sure that he'll have "many more opportunities" to leave Brighton following his failed £70million move to Arsenal in the January transfer window. Having attempted to force a move away from the south coast by handing in a transfer request, 21-year-old Caicedo is being targeted by Jurgen Klopp as part of the hotly-anticipated rebuild.

"I'm sure I'm going to have many more opportunities," the Ecuadorian wonderkid, 21, told the Telegraph ahead of Brighton's FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United on Sunday. "That's why I continue to do things well [at Brighton]."

Klopp hints at team news

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Roberto Firmino will miss Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest - and hinted at how Darwin Nunez can return to the starting XI. Nunez has lost his place for the Reds' last two fixtures and to regain his spot, Klopp wants the Uruguayan striker to work on his counter-pressing.

"The ticket into this team will definitely be counter-pressing. If you did it in the game you play, you have a good chance to start again," the Liverpool manager explained on Friday. "We have opportunities to change. We have five games in two weeks? Yes, there will be changes. Everybody is super important to us."

Arsenal enter Mount race

Arsenal have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Mason Mount. The England international, 24, is yet to agree a new contract with Chelsea and his current deal expires at the end of next season.

Potentially available for a cut-price fee this summer, Goal claim that Arsenal are now in the hunt after Mount was strongly linked with a move to Anfield. Man United have also been tipped to pursue the creative midfielder.
