Liverpool suffered another dismal Premier League result on Saturday, as they lost 2-1 to relegation candidates Leeds at Anfield.
Jesse Marsch's side took the lead at Anfield when a mix up between Joe Gomez and Alisson allowed Rodrigo to score the easiest of goals. Mohamed Salah equalised for the hosts before a last-minute winner from Crysencio Summerville snatched the points.
The result leaves Liverpool 13 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City. Arsenal will open a 15-point gap on the Jurgen Klopp's side if they beat Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon. Here are the main headlines from Anfield.
Klopp evaluates loss
Reacting to Saturday's surprise defeat, Klopp told Sky Sports: "It was a set-back, absolutely. I thought we had a really good start then conceded a freakish goal. We scored the equaliser but for some reason it didn't give us the security back.
"We struggled to control the game and gave too many balls away. The boys tried, we had good possession and had big chances but, in the end, if it is 1-1 and you defend the situation around the second goal like this, you leave everything open.

"In the end, it was two versus one in the box and they can finish off the situation. The problem is we cannot control this type of game at the moment... Maybe some players are overplayed, Harvey [Elliott] has been exceptional for us this season.
"He had a good start but couldn't keep it going. Thiago has been ill, up front the same [players] play all the time - they are the three strikers we have left. We have to fight and that is what we must do."

Mane continuing to flourish
Liverpool decision to sell Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich in the summer is becoming more regretful by the day, as the forward scored in a 6-2 home win against Mainz on Saturday. Bayern are now two points clear of Union Berlin at the top of the Bundesliga.
Mane has already scored 11 goals for Bayern this season and his new boss Julian Nagelsmann will be hoping there's more where that came from. "I'm happy with Sadio Mane's performance... he did well today," admitted Nagelsmann in his post-match interview.

Van Dijk's run ends
The defeat to Leeds was the first time Virgil van Dijk has lost a Premier League game at Anfield since joining Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018 - ending a run of 70 games. He boasted a record of 59 wins, 11 draws and no defeats before Saturday.
Liverpool have lost six Premier League games at Anfield since Van Dijk's arrival, but all those defeats happened when the Dutchman was recovering from a long-term knee injury. Those defeats were consecutive, too, all happening between January and March 2021.
Saturday's loss was also Liverpool's first Premier League defeat in front of a home crowd since Crystal Palace won 2-1 at Anfield in April 2017. Those six consecutive defeats at the beginning of 2021 happened during the Covid-19 pandemic, of course.
