Liverpool made a frustrating start to their Premier League campaign last Saturday as they could only muster a 2-2 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Some Red supporters are concerned Jurgen Klopp doesn't have enough in central midfield, with Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all nursing injuries. Many are questioning whether they should nip back into the transfer market.
Liverpool played 63 competitive games last season and this term could be just as testing, yet Klopp appears to be putting his faith in the club's emerging talents... giving one of them a new long-term deal. Here are the latest headlines from Anfield.
Reds not keen on Nunes
Liverpool have once again pushed back at rumours they are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Nunes has been continually linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer and the reports were lent some extra weight amid their injury problems.

The 23-year-old midfielder would appear to fit the bill for what Liverpool require. He has a £51million release clause and has also been linked with Wolves in this window.
Yet, it seems Thiago’s injury has not changed Liverpool’s stance. The Athletic claim the Reds are not interested in Nunes. They plan on sitting tight for the remainder of the summer transfer window before pursuing targets next summer, with Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham among those on the radar.

Liverpool warned about Diaz
William Gallas has warned Liverpool they will struggle to finish in the top four this season because Luis Diaz isn’t good enough to replace Sadio Mane.
"As an ex-London player, I have to say Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham to win the Premier League," the ex-defender told Genting Casino. "After watching Man City, they are still strong, Liverpool will still be there. It will be difficult for the London clubs to be honest.
"If Chelsea does not buy the right striker, they will not finish in the top four. Arsenal will be in the top four for sure. Liverpool can miss out because they don't have Sadio Mane anymore and Diaz does not have the same impact."

Elliott pens new deal
Harvey Elliott has signed a new five-year contract with Liverpool. "Hopefully my career ends here," the 19-year-old said of his desire to stay with the Reds. "This is why I’ve come here, to be honest, establish myself in this team and play as much as I can for Liverpool.
“That’s all I want to do, I just want to put the shirt on, go out and play and just enjoy myself, because I was playing in the back garden as a kid in a Liverpool shirt... scoring goals and pretending to be these players, and now I’m playing with them!
"I want to write [memories] for myself and look back on in years to come and think, 'Yeah, what a dream', happy that I’ve dreamt my dream and achieved it."
Top of Elliott's agenda is winning the Premier League and Champions League after Liverpool came up just short last season. "I think for myself, personally, I have a lot to prove and the team has a lot to prove," added the teenager.
