Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp lists Darwin Nunez "strengths" as Man Utd defeat explained

Jurgen Klopp has listed new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez's key strength after the Uruguayan played his first game for the club.

Nunez will have been left disappointed following his first game for the Reds, sending a late chance to get on the scoresheet over the bar as Liverpool fell to a humbling 4-0 defeat to their bitter rivals. But it seems his manager was happy with his new signing's first outing, revealing he'd already displayed one of his biggest strengths in the tie.

The Reds boss also opened up on the result, saying his side had given away "no-brainer" chances to the opposition. And Gary Lineker has praised Liverpool fans for their "remarkable patience" after they were exonerated of any blame by a new report into May's Champions League final chaos.

Klopp lists Nunez 'strengths'

Jurgen Klopp thinks new signing Darwin Nunez has already shown one of his major strengths after making his first appearance for the club.

Klopp said after the game "you could see is the boys were already searching for him" and was impressed with the amount of running his new forward did.

Klopp said Nunez "offered the runs and the boys wanted to pass the ball, that is for sure one of his strengths".

Man Utd humiliation explained

Goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri wrapped up victory for United in the Bangkok Century Cup in Thailand. Klopp has now spoken about the defeat, saying the Reds gave "massive chances away" that were "pretty much no-brainers".

But he added that the most important thing was getting game time into the legs of his players.

Lineker's strong response after Paris report

Gary Lineker has lauded Liverpool supporters for their "remarkable patience" after an investigation into the mayhem at the Champions League final absolved fans of blame.

Liverpool fans were unfairly blamed for the chaos which surrounded last season’s Champions League final in Paris to "divert attention" from the failure of the organisers, a French Senate report has found. And an inquiry has now found the horror scenes were caused by a catalogue of administrative errors and failings

Following the news, Lineker said Reds fans "deserve enormous credit for showing remarkable patience and good behaviour under the most trying of circumstances".
