Another weekend, another defeat for Liverpool.
The 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Eithad on Saturday has left Jurgen Klopp's side in a difficult position. They are in eighth in the Premier League - eight points behind Manchester United in fourth. Unless something extraordinary happens, Liverpool will battling to salvage a Europa League or Europa Conference League spot from this dreadful season.
But when there's Klopp, there's hope. The German has already built one iconic team and Liverpool fans hope another triumphant side is just around the corner. Ahead of Tuesday's away game against Chelsea, here are the latest headlines from Merseyside.
Liverpool after Silva
Liverpool are interested in signing Benfica defender Antonio Silva... but the emerging talent will not come cheap.
Silva, who has won three senior caps for Portugal and featured at the World Cup in Qatar, is enjoying a breakthrough season with Benfica. The 19-year-old has made 34 club outings this term, helping Benfica reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Despite Liverpool's interest, it is believed they are unwilling to trigger Silva's £88million release clause. Benfica, who take on Inter Milan in Europe, are keen to keep hold on to their best players after losing Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea and Darwin Nunez to Liverpool.
Benfica are 10 points clear of title rivals Porto at the top of the Portuguese league, with Silva's contract due to expire in June 2027.

Liverpool's remaining fixtures
The Reds need an incredible end to the season to secure a top-four finish after back-to-back Premier League defeats to Bournemouth and Man City. Yet Klopp's side face a tough run in, with fixtures against Arsenal and Brentford on the horizon.
"The elephant in the room is why I am still sitting here," admitted Klopp when asked about his future on Monday. "I know I am here because of what I did in the past, not what we’ve done this season. I don’t like the fact I have to rely on that."

Klopp reacts to Potter sacking
Klopp believes Chelsea's decision to part company with Graham Potter is just "part of the business". Potter was relieved of his duties on Sunday night - just hours after relegation candidates Leicester called time on Brendan Rodgers' successful reign.
Klopp told reporters on Monday, "Both clubs are not in a spot where they expect to be, I cannot really say a lot more about it. Yes, let's say I know them well, I respect them a lot.
"To be honest I like both when I met them, really good people and fantastic managers both of them but still things can go the wrong way and decision makers in the club think they have to change and they change. We all accept that's part of the business, but that's it.
"Last week [Antonio] Conte, [Julian] Nagelsmann and now these two. The season is in a decisive part. People are afraid of not reaching their targets. I think it's 12 [sackings] now, which is an awful number. I think some clubs are underachieving, us too. There are expectations out there, rightly so and if you don't reach them, you have to accept the decisions."
