Liverpool news: Jordan Henderson gives account on row, Reds set for Darwin Nunez payment

The fallout from Jordan Henderson's clash with Gabriel continues as the pair are asked to give their accounts of what happened at the Emirates.

Liverpool were undone by Arsenal as their difficult start to the season continues, but it is a row in the second-half that has sparked an FA investigation. The Reds endured an afternoon to fit as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz both forced off with injury.

The Reds will hope to get back to winning ways against Rangers in the Champions League, but their next Premier League assignment sees Manchester City and Erling Haaland come to town.

Hendo-Gabriel row continues

Henderson and Gabriel have both presented their side of the story after their Emirates bust-up.

Referee Michael Oliver asked to speak to the pair to get their version of events after the game and has now sent his report to the Football Association. The FA have confirmed they are looking into the incident in the dying stages of Arsenal ’s dramatic 3-2 win over Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday.

It is understood that Arsenal defender Gabriel has complained he heard something on the pitch which preempted an angry confrontation with Liverpool captain Henderson.

Duiz faces time out

Liverpool have been dealt a major blow after a scan on the knee injury Diaz suffered in the loss against Arsenal on Sunday returned bad news.

Diaz had to be substituted during the defeat in north London and widespread reports now say that he is set to be sidelined until December. He will therefore miss the Reds' next 10 games. Although no surgery is required on the problem, Liverpool will now be without one of their brightest sparks until after the World Cup.

The 25-year-old winger has been a revelation since joining the club from Porto in January, returning 10 goals and eight assists in 38 matches across all competitions. He has helped replace Sadio Mane, who left for Bayern Munich in the summer, but will now spend around six to eight weeks in the treatment room.

Nunez cost rises

Darwin Nunez is set to cost Liverpool millions if he makes his tenth appearance for the club against Manchester City next weekend - as he is expected to do so.

Liverpool splashed out £64.2million (€75m) up front for the Uruguay international striker in the summer window, but the transfer included a number of add-ons that are set to be triggered over the next few years. And the first of these could be triggered as early as next week when Liverpool play host to Pep Guardiola's champions Man City, after a mid-week trip to Glasgow to take on Rangers in the Champions League.

Should he feature against both Rangers and Man City, as he is expected to do so, then he will have hit his first milestone in a Reds shirt - 10 games played - which will trigger the need for Liverpool to pay Benfica an add-on fee. According to Portuguese paper Record, Benfica are owed a total of £21.5m (€25m) from the Reds. £4.3m (€5m) will be paid after Nunez plays 10 games for the Reds
