Liverpool news: Darwin Nunez transfer detail clarified as Jurgen Klopp proved right again

New Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez's former club Benfica have moved to clarify the details of his transfer.

The Uruguayan signed for the Reds this week in a move which is expected to allow Sadio Mane to complete his switch to Bayern Munich. And the Portuguese side have now issued a detailed breakdown of how the striker's £85.5million transfer fee will be paid.

It comes as Jurgen Klopp's warning ahead of Coutinho's move to Barcelona has rung true once again with Paris Saint-Germain's Georginio Wijnaldum. And Reds superstar Mohamed Salah's incredible career with the club has been revisited as the forward turns 30.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Liverpool headlines.

Benfica clarify Nunez transfer

Darwin Nunez's former side Benfica have issued a breakdown of the initial £64.2million fee they will receive from Liverpool.

The Uruguayan international sealed his move to the Reds this week and is set to replace Sadio Mane in the side's attack. He's arrived for a fee of £64.2million (€75m) with £21.5million (€25m) in add-ons although Benfica will receive just £46.7million from the upfront payment.

Nunez's former club Penarol has profited £1.94 million from the transfer, while Almeria will earn £8.95 million and 10% will go towards 'intermediation services,' amounting to £6.24 million. It means that in total, the value of the deal could rise as high as £85.5million (€100m).

Klopp proved right again

Jurgen Klopp's warning to Coutinho before he joined Barcelona has rung true once again with Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Liverpool boss told his former Brazilian playmaker Coutinho that should he stay at Anfield they will "build a statue in your honour" but he will "just another player" at Barca. Another player they could just have easily been issued to is Wijnaldum, who turned down a new contract to move to Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Wijnaldum's first season in France has been such a disappointment that Get French Football News have now handed him their 'flop of the year' award, with the Dutchman "comfortably winning the fans' vote by a wide margin".

Salah at 30

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah turned 30 on Wednesday.

The 'Egyptian King' is entering the final year of his contract at Liverpool and is hoping to earn one final bumper pay rise before his career begins to decline. While Salah has enjoyed an incredible Liverpool career, his life at Anfield could have started much earlier had the club stumped up £3m more when they let Chelsea outbid them for the winger in 2014.

And now, with his contract running down, the Reds are wrangling over whether to stump up enough money to get him to sign with them once again.
