Liverpool news: Champions League final omen as Reds give Fabinho injury update

Liverpool have been handed a blow ahead of the Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28.

The Reds will go up against the Spanish giants in Paris having secured their place in the final with victory over fellow LaLiga side Villarreal. But there is one seriously bad omen for Jurgen Klopp's side – after UEFA have Clement Turpin as the referee for the tie.

It comes as the Reds have issued an "optimistic" Fabinho injury update ahead of the game in Paris later this month. And Luis Diaz's mum has given a rare insight into life inside the Liverpool dressing room as she revealed what the former Porto star has said about the club following his January move.

And he says the Brazil national team are "optimistic" that Fabinho will play in Paris.

Champions League final omen

Liverpool have been dealt a bad omen ahead of the Champions League final after UEFA announced Clement Turpin will referee the fixture.

The Frenchman has refereed four Real Madrid games in his time – with Los Blancos running out the winners on every occasion. Although that may be a bad omen for the Reds, it's not all doom and gloom. Turpin has also taken charge of Liverpool twice before – a 1-1 draw against Spartak Moscow and a 2-0 win against RB Leipzig.
