The Lightning Seeds are returning to the music scene after 13 years of no new releases.
Ian Broudie, 64, from Liverpool, appeared on ITV's Lorraine today to plug new music from his band The Lightning Seeds. They are back with new music 13 years after their last album.
Their pop-inflected indie singles brought Ian a run of hits including Three Lions with Baddiel and Skinner, which is still used around football matches today. It was first released back in 1996, to mark the England football team's participation in that year's UEFA European Championship, which England was hosting.

When Ranvir Singh asked why it's taken so long to release new music, Ian, who has enjoyed a solo career and worked as a producer with acts including The Coral, explained that some of the more recent songs he had written felt too "dark" and he wanted Lightning Seeds songs to retain a more happy and upbeat tone. He said: "I felt like some of the songs I was writing were a bit.... they just didn't have that vibe that the Lightnings had. The uplift."
Speaking about the name of the new album - See You in the Stars - Ian said: "I lost a good friend over the last couple of years so the title track is about that. I think a lot of other issues... not issues, it's a record so it's meant to be fun to listen to. And I hope it is fun to listen to."
