Liverpool 'make contact' over £50.6m signing as club's transfer stance emerges

The summer transfer window is officially open and Liverpool will be looking to get some business done in the next few weeks.

Jurgen Klopp was busy in the early weeks of the window by bringing in three new players. Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have all been signing by the Reds this summer.

Anfield sources have indicated that Liverpool are happy with their transfer business this summer, and do not envisage any more incomings before the window closes. However, that does not stop rumours over possible new arrivals from swirling and gaining attention.

Matheus Nunes, Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

What?

According to the report, Liverpool have made official contact with Sporting over the signing of Nunes.

It has been claimed that the Reds are the most recent club to enquire about the possibility of signing Nunes this summer. Other clubs credited with an interest are Chelsea and Wolves.

The report goes on to say that Sporting do not want to sell Nunes, after letting Palhinha depart for Fulham earlier in the window.

Nunes is reported to have a release clause worth £50.6million in his current contract, which is set to expire until 2026.

It has also been stated that, despite the release clause, Sporting would not consider selling Nunes for anything less than £33.7m.

Who?

Ousmane Dembele, Barcelona forward.

What?

According to the report, Dembele is close to signing his new contract at Barcelona amid apparent interest from Liverpool.

The Reds have been credited with an interest in the forward over the past few weeks, who is currently a free agent after his contract at the Nou Camp expired at the end of last month.

Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool had made an offer to sign Dembele on a free transfer window.

However, according to the latest report, Dembele has arrived back in Barcelona and is ready to sign a new contract that will run until the summer of 2024.
