Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes has heaped praise on Liverpool loanee Luke Chambers for his performance during the 1-0 victory over Dundee United on Wednesday evening.
The 18-year-old defender provided an assist for Daniel Armstrong after 35 minutes in what proved to be the only goal of the game and subsequently handed Killie their first Scottish Premiership victory of 2023.
Speaking after the victory, McInnes singled out Chambers for his fine showing in what was a must-win bottom-of-the-table clash at the the BBSP Stadium.

"It was a great debut for Luke Chambers," said McInnes. "He played a part in the goal, he picked out the pass, he was quality in possession. He was making his senior debut at 18, there was a lot of nerves, but the level of performance was very mature.
“36 years ago I made my first senior debut and I certainly didn’t play as good as him! He was outstanding. He looks about 13 but he plays like a 30-year-old!
"He’s so mature, he’s so calm with his defending, his decision making on the ball was very good, his choice of passes, his choice of crosses, none more so than for Danny’s goal and he’s fitted in brilliantly."
Chambers made the move to the Scottish outfit on deadline day after spending the first half of the season with the Reds' under-23s. The left-back was part of Jurgen Klopp's squad that travelled to Thailand and Dubai for training camps earlier in the season.
After talks of a potential switch north of the border commenced in late January, the defender revealed his Anfield team-mate Andy Robertson phoned him and advised him to take the opportunity for the remainder of the campaign.
"Robbo actually rang me and said I would be fine here," Chambers told Killie TV on Tuesday. "He told me, 'Good luck, smash it, and just enjoy it really, just get all the experience you need'."
