Liverpool linked with midfielder as Moises Caicedo contract plan emerges after transfer talk

Here are your Liverpool morning headlines for Sunday, September 11.

Liverpool 'reignite interest' in £21.6m midfielder

Liverpool are reported to be once again showing an interest in signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

The Reds were linked with the 24-year-old earlier in the summer as one of many potential new midfielders who could have joined the club. Manchester United were also said to be chasing the Ivory Coast international.

Now, according to a report in Italy, Liverpool are back in the race. Calciomercato claim that the Reds are keeping an eye on Sangare, but are not alone with other clubs mentioned. West Ham United are also being credited with an interest, as are reigning Serie A champions AC Milan.

Brighton plan 'new contract' for Moises Caicedo

Liverpool could be about to be dealt a blow in their reported pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The Reds were heavily linked with the Ecuador international in the latter days of the summer transfer window. However, no move materialised with the Seagulls standing firm in their desire to keep the player.

Other clubs were also linked with Caicedo throughout the summer. Manchester United and Arsenal were credited with an interest, while it remains to be seen if new Chelsea boss Graham Potter wants to bring the player to his new club.

But according to a report in The Mirror, Liverpool could be dealt a blow in their hopes to sign Caicedo. It has been claimed that Brighton will look to hand the 20-year-old a new and improved contract.

The report further states that Brighton want to reward Caicedo for the progress he has made since becoming a regular starter. It has been stated that the Seagulls want to put the midfielder on the same wage as the other first-team players, and want to protect the player’s value.
