Liverpool line-up confirmed as Trent Alexander-Arnold set to be unleashed again vs Nottingham Forest

Jurgen Klopp has named an unchanged side from the Liverpool team that hammered Leeds United 6-1 on Monday as they host Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

A tactical tweak at Elland Road saw Trent Alexander-Arnold operate more as a central midfielder in possession and the No.66 is expected to reprise that new role at Anfield this afternoon but starts the game, officially, at right-back.

With two assists and 124 successful passes - the most in a single game during his Liverpool career - Alexander-Arnold enjoyed a sensational evening in Leeds and will be expected to again be a creative force in the centre of the park this afternoon, despite initially starting at full-back.

Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk continue at centre-half with Andy Robertson again named on the left behind Alisson Becker in goal.

Curtis Jones makes his fourth successive start in midfield alongside Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson as the England Under-21 is given another chance to impress after an excellent showing at Leeds earlier this week.

Up front, Diogo Jota keeps his place on the left of the front three as Klopp resists the claims from both Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, who returned to action after six months out with a late cameo at Elland Road. Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo complete the lineup with Roberto Firmino ruled out with a muscle injury.

Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott are part of the substitutes' bench alongside Nunez, Diaz and Joel Matip.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Jota.

Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Thiago, Milner, Elliott, Tsimikas, Diaz, Nunez, Matip.

Forest: Navas; Felipe, Niakhate, McKenna; Williams, Mangala, Danilo, Lodi; Freuler, Gibbs-White; Awoniyi.
