Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso has emerged as a candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid manager in the summer after impressing as Bayer Leverkusen boss.
Despite winning the Champions League and La Liga last season, the Italian manager is under pressure at the Bernabeu after slipping to nine points behind leaders Barcelona. There are also reports Brazil are interested in him being their next national team coach, with some suggestions a three-year deal is in the pipeline.
Madrid are on course to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Liverpool 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield, but the former Everton boss is facing an uncertain future.

With Ancelotti potentially on the move from Los Blancos, former Liverpool midfielder Alonso is reportedly amongst the candidates who could take the reigns if the Italian was to leave.
According to BILD, the World Cup winner is on the shortlist of names to replace Ancelotti after being appointed Leverkusen boss back in October and has guided them to nine league wins 16 games.
