A new price tag has reportedly emerged on a player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
The Reds have been credited with an interest in Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes in recent days. Gomes is one of a host of potential new midfielders who have been linked with a move to Anfield over the past few months.
Reports have suggested that Real Madrid are also expressing an interest in signing Gomes in the January transfer window. And now a fresh rumour has emerged of the player’s asking price.

According to Brazilian journalist Vene Casagrande, via Mundo Deportivo, Flamengo have placed a €60million (£53.5m) price tag on Gomes’ services, which also happens to be the player’s release clause. The report goes on to say that number is considerably higher than what Real were said to be willing to pay.
Liverpool, the report states, are still battling to sign Gomes and will compete with Real Madrid for the player’s signature. Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen have also been credited with an interest.
The report states that the La Liga giants were prepared to pay €40m (£35.5m) to sign Gomes. However, it has been stated that Flamengo will not allow the player to leave for lower than their initial asking price of €60m.
