Liverpool are being linked with a surprise move for Chelsea star Mason Mount.
The Reds were previously tentatively linked with a move for Mount in the summer transfer window, but nothing happened regarding his future. The 23-year-old was one of many midfielders supposedly on the radar of Jurgen Klopp and co.
Mount’s current deal at Chelsea is set to expire at the end of next season. There have been conflicting reports about the current state of negotiations between the two parties, and the latest has brought Liverpool into the picture.

According to The Guardian, Liverpool are 'keeping track' of Mount’s contract talks with Chelsea, with a view to a potential move. Italian giants Juventus have also been mentioned in the same report as showing an interest in the midfielder.
It has also been claimed that the decision to put contract talks between Chelsea and Mount on hold until after the World Cup has alerted Liverpool. The article states that the Reds, who are in the market for midfield reinforcements, are keeping an eye on how things develop with Mount’s future.
The article states that Chelsea are desperate not to lose Mount, either on a free transfer or for a transfer fee, and even more so to a direct European or English rival. Manchester City have also been listed in the report as previously holding an interest in the versatile midfielder.
