Liverpool injury update: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate and Thiago latest news and return dates

Liverpool suffered a sour note as they saw out a convincing win over Aston Villa on Sunday with Trent Alexander-Arnold departing early due to injury.

The England defender’s participation in the upcoming internationals is in doubt due to a hamstring issue.

Liverpool will hope their fortnight off will give him enough time to return, along with potential comebacks for Ibrahima Konate and Thiago Alcantara.

Both players have suffered setbacks in their injury recoveries.

Here is your latest update of Liverpool injuries and return dates...

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Jurgen Klopp was forced to substitute Alexander-Arnold after 71 minutes of Sunday’s win with an apparent hamstring injury.

Scans will determine the 24-year-old’s lay-off although he was said after the game to have seen his departure as precautionary.

“I asked him, he said it’s [his] hamstring,” Klopp revealed.

“‘Not too serious’ is his opinion, but we obviously have to wait for the scans and then we will know more.”

Ibrahima Konate

Centre-back Konate has pulled out of the France squad as his hamstring injury absence continues.

Didier Deschamps had confirmed plans to assess the player on Monday having initially named him in his 20-man squad, while inisting: “Of course, I won’t take risks.”

It leaves Konate’s return for Liverpool’s trip to Wolves later this month in doubt with Klopp last week only saying his defender “will not be ready” for Villa.

Thiago Alcantara

A setback in Spanish midfielder Thiago’s comeback should not disrupt his plans to return too much.

Liverpool boss Klopp admitted he had to “slow down” the 32-year-old’s first-team training restart, but still hopes to have him available for selection after the international break.

“It’s not cool for him, it’s not cool for us but it’s how it is,” said Klopp. “Thiago will use the international break for that then obviously to be up to speed, I’m pretty sure that should be hopefully enough for him then.”
