Liverpool have five forwards to target as Sofyan Amrabat's brother issues transfer plea

Here are your Liverpool morning headlines for Sunday, December 11.

Five forwards to target

As the World Cup finals in Qatar approach a conclusion and the return of Premier League football looms, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp were handed a damaging diagnosis on Friday.

That news was that Luis Diaz had suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury sustained during the Reds' 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in October. He is now expected to spend a significant spell on the sidelines after heading back to Merseyside.

The Colombian's latest injury issue presents Jurgen Klopp with an enormous attacking headache as he faces the prospect of having just Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino as his three attacking options until February - when Diogo Jota is anticipated to make his return to action after the calf injury he sustained against Manchester City in October.

And with some huge clashes against Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton in that time, the ECHO have taken a look at five potential January signings from Mohammed Kudus to Marcus Rashford.

Amrabat transfer plea

The brother of reported Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat has begged Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi to sign the Fiorentina midfielder.

Amrabat has been one of the breakout stars of the World Cup with Morocco, who became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals as they dumped out Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on Saturday evening thanks to a 1-0 victory. The 26-year-old's performances have been so impressive that he has been linked with immediate switches to Anfield, Tottenham Hotspur and teams in France - including PSG.

Speaking in an interview with L'Équipe, Amrabat's brother said: “Nasser Al-Khelaifi, if you read my words, take my brother!”

In the same interview, he claimed that a move to the Paris-based club would be ideal for his brother whose style of play would “suit the club very well".

Reports earlier this week claimed Liverpool had met with Amrabat's representatives in a bid to take pole position in any deal.
