The Premier League have confirmed the referee for Liverpool’s opening match this weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to face newly-promoted Fulham this Saturday, in their first league fixture of the season. It will be Liverpool’s first trip to Craven Cottage since the 1-1 draw in December 2020.
It has been confirmed that Andy Madley will be the referee for the Reds’ trip to the capital. He will be assisted by Dan Cook and Derek Eaton, with Tony Harrington the fourth official - Stuart Attwell will be the VAR official.

Madley has been the referee for five Liverpool matches in the past, with the Reds on the winning side in each of those occasions. The most recent victory came in the FA Cup fourth round win over Cardiff City in February.
Liverpool’s dramatic win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final last December also saw Madley in the middle. The Reds won that game on a penalty shootout when the tie finished 3-3 after extra time.
Madley is yet to hand out a single red card in any of the Liverpool matches he’s taken charge of, and is also yet to award a penalty. In total, he refereed 16 Premier League matches last season and awarded four penalties as well as just the one red card.
