Liverpool were handed a treble injury boost on Thursday as three of their players returned to training following lay-offs.
Ibrahim Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher and Calvin Ramsay were all pictured training with the rest of the group following the September international break as they close in on returns, having all been ruled out for the entirety of the season so far.
Konate has been sidelined since July after limping off with a muscle injury in the Reds’ final pre-season friendly against Strasbourg, while Kelleher returned for pre-season injured following the summer international break. Meanwhile, Ramsay hasn’t featured after an issue was picked up in his medical following his summer switch from Aberdeen, though his return has seen him move a step closer to making his maiden appearance for Liverpool.

Of course, it is unlikely that any of the trio will start as Jurgen Klopp’s squad return to action at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. However, with the clash with the Seagulls the first of 13 matches in six weeks for the Reds ahead of the break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the trio’s return is a welcome boost.
However, while Konate, Kelleher and Ramsay were all back in training, there were some absentees too following the international break with Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz all not pictured on Thursday.
Diaz ’s absence is likely to be due to a later return from international duty, with Colombia in action against Mexico at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, United States in the early hours of Wednesday morning. It’s unclear why Jota and Nunez were absent having last played on Tuesday, with Portugal losing at home to Spain and Nunez scoring in a 2-0 victory over Canada in Bratislava, Slovakia.
However, with the Portuguese forward asking to be taken off in Portugal’s loss due to fatigue , his absence is a potential concern. Regardless of the reason, Jurgen Klopp will offer an injury update at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was also pictured in training, having been snubbed by England manager Gareth Southgate during the international break despite being called up, as was Arthur Melo after twice featuring for the Under-21s over the past fortnight as he continues to build up match fitness following his loan move from Juventus.
However, Andy Robertson, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones were all absent and remain sidelined.
