Liverpool handed major injury boost as Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino return to training

Liverpool have been handed a major boost ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan at Anfield.

Already in control of the tie following a 2-0 at San Siro last month, Jurgen Klopp has revealed Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino have all returned to training.

Thiago was forced to pull out of the Carabao Cup final having been selected to start against Chelsea with a hamstring problem, while Matip missed Saturday’s Premier League win over West Ham through illness.

Firmino, meanwhile, faces a late fitness test given his knock was slightly more severe, having not played since the win in Italy three weeks ago after picking up a groin injury.

With Liverpool in a title race and in a good position in both the Champions League and the FA Cup, welcoming three experienced players back into the squad is a major boost for Klopp.

After the visit of the Italian champions, Liverpool travel to Brighton on Saturday before welcoming Arsenal to Anfield next week.
