Ibrahima Konate injury latest as Liverpool suffer scare ahead of facing Man City
Liverpool haven’t yet ruled Ibrahima Konate out of facing Man City on Sunday despite the defender currently suffering with a muscle injury.
The Frenchman, who has only just returned from a two-month lay-off with a knee injury suffered in pre-season, missed training on Friday as Jurgen Klopp ’s side continue their preparations ahead of facing Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions. However, club sources insist the 23-year-old wasn’t scheduled to train anyway as part of second day recovery, with that always the plan considering he has only just returned from injury.

Despite this, Konate is an injury doubt to face City after suffering a muscle injury. However, the ECHO understands the issue is only minor with the France international not yet ruled out of Sunday’s game as a result.
The club are waiting to see how well the injury settles down before making a decision on the defender’s availability, with him undergoing further assessment on Saturday.

Liverpool set for second mid-season friendly as World Cup training camp plans take shape
Liverpool’s plans for the World Cup break are continuing to take shape with the Reds set to face Lyon in a mid-season friendly in Dubai.
Jurgen Klopp's side are flying out to the region to coincide with the Qatar World Cup this winter as they undertake something akin to a pre-season training camp during the tournament, with plans for friendlies while away currently in the pipeline.
With a glamorous clash with AC Milan already in the works, the ECHO understands that the team will also take on Lyon while away for their mid-season training camp. Liverpool had previously looked at setting up a base in Cape Town, South Africa, before deciding that Dubai would be easier given the relatively short flight from Qatar for those eliminated from the World Cup.
It remains unclear when or where either friendly meeting will take place as top clubs look to use their time off from domestic action by keeping their non-internationals sharp. Liverpool’s last match before the World Cup is at home to Southampton on November 12, with their next Premier League fixture falling away at Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
