Liverpool matches are in high demand with the TV companies thanks to the global appeal of the Reds but fans following Jurgen Klopp's side in the 2022/23 season are set to lose over £100 in the first three months of the season.
Liverpool have been chosen for 11 Premier League games in the opening months of the season but fans can save over £100 by avoiding signing up to Sky and BT contracts and instead making clever use of monthly passes to cut the cost.
BT Sport has already bagged the opening game of the season away at Fulham at 12.30pm on Saturday, August 6, followed by Sky Sport's first Liverpool game against Crystal Palace on Monday, August 15 at 8pm.
The huge clash against Manchester United is chosen for Sky and again takes place on a Monday night on August 22, followed by Liverpool versus Newcastle United on Wednesday, August 31 on BT Sport. The Merseyside Derby against Everton at Goodison Park is a second BT Sport game in a row.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are then set to be shown on Sky before Nottingham Forest away late in October is on BT. Finally, Liverpool versus Leeds is also set to be shown in Sky in October.
Amazon has also secured the rights to two Liverpool games starting with West Ham United on October 19, followed by the Boxing Day visit to Steven Gerrard's big-spending Aston Villa. Liverpool will also play a number of Champions League games on BT Sport in the first few months of the season once the group stage gets underway.
Sky TV plus Sport costs £44 a month in the new Sky offer. However if you already have Sky, Sky Sports costs £18 on top of its standard subscription to add its Premier League football to the package. That works out at £9 per game for the first three months of the season on average.
BT Sport costs £29.99 to add to your Sky package, working out at a whopping £24.50 per game. However, add in five Champions League match days and that brings the cost down to £10 per game.
Using the £44 a month Sky plus Sport, then adding BT Sport, means the first three months of the season will cost Liverpool fans £222 to see all of the games. This includes signing up to a free Amazon Prime trial to watch the West Ham United game.
For those who are tied into a Sky or BT contract there is not much they can do to save money but fans who are not in contract can save huge amounts throughout the season by avoiding tying themselves to a lengthy and expensive contract.
The cheapest way to watch Liverpool FC
There is a cheaper way to watch all of the games and you do not have to sign up for a Sky contract as a result of it either. By using monthly passes at the right times you will get to see every Liverpool fixture for a fraction of the price.
BT Sport also offers a pass priced at £25, which means you can watch for a month without entering a contract. This looks like the best option for Liverpool fans who can add BT for a month at a time when there are a larger number of BT matches on TV. The pass can be used to watch the opening game against Fulham and will also cover the Newcastle and Everton games if you sign up now.
You can buy one-off Sky Sports games with a 24 hour NowTV pass at £11.99, or a month for £33.99. Signing up on August 14 gets you two games - Manchester United and Crystal Palace - while waiting until September 18 gets you Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City games.
By only signing up to passes for the first three months of the season the cost will be:
- August 6 - BT Pass (£25)
- Fulham, Newcastle and Everton fixtures - August 15 - One day NowTV Pass (£11.99)
- Crystal Palace fixture - August 22 - One day NowTV pass (£11.99)
- Manchester United fixture - September 18 - NowTV Pass (£33.99)
- Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City fixtures - October 19 - Amazon Prime trial (Free)
- West Ham United fixture - October 22 - BT Pass (£25)
- Nottingham Forest fixture - October 30 - One day NowTV Pass (£11.99) Leeds fixture.
The total cost will come out at £121.97, which is £100 cheaper than the Sky packages and does not tie you in to a contract of any kind.
