SPANISH MEDIA: 'Football history' - Spanish media notice what Luis Diaz did for Liverpool against Villarreal
Thousands of Liverpool fans made the trip to Spain to support their team at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Despite the rainy conditions, the travelling Kopites were fully behind their team.
In the aftermath of the game, a photo emerged on social media of several Liverpool fans posing with a new banner. The banner reads ‘Ulla Klopp, Scouse Queen’, in reference to the Reds manager’s wife.
Klopp himself was also posing for the photo, smiling alongside the group of travelling Liverpool fans.
This comes less than a week after Klopp signed a new contract with Liverpool, which keeps him at Anfield until 2026. His original deal was set to expire in 2024, but he has committed his future to the club for a further two years.
When speaking how the idea of extending his contract first surfaced, Klopp explained how a conversation with his wife was where it all started.
"If, when I said around the last contract extension, that in 2024 that's it then, it was actually a private agreement and the most important contract in my life I signed is the one with Ulla. That's where it started again,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com .
"We sat in the kitchen at the table and Ulla said, 'I can't see us leaving in 2024.' And I was like, 'What?!' 'No, really, [with] all the people about.' You won't know Lisa, but she is very important for us, it's about Danielle, it's about so many people. That's the first moment and then, of course, it's about the club and all the people I don't know personally but I know as well, so that's how it all started."
