Liverpool supporters observed a moment's silence in memory of Queen Elizabeth II ahead of this evening’s Champions League clash with Ajax.
Jurgen Klopp had urged fans attending tonight’s group stage game to respect Britain’s longest-reigning royal, labelling it ‘the right thing to do’ in his pre-match press conference.
The Queen’s passing was announced last Thursday and resulted in the Reds’ scheduled Premier League meeting with Wolves on Saturday being postponed.

Tonight’s European contest marks the first opportunity many supporters have had to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II, with Arsenal, Manchester United, West Ham United and - earlier this evening - Tottenham Hotspur the only top-flight sides to have played since the death of Her Majesty.
In addition to both sets of players wearing black armbands and flags at the ground being lowered to half-mast, Liverpool also took the decision to lay a wreath at Anfield ahead of kick-off, accompanied by the following message: “In memory of Her Majesty The Queen, who officially opened our Centenary Stand in May 1993. Rest in Peace.”
Darren Fletcher, commentating for BT Sport from the ground, said: " A silence impeccably observed by many but not by everyone."
In a 54,000 crowd, our reporters at Anfield said 'six or seven people tried to make a noise' but were told to be quiet.
