A significant number of Liverpool fans were caught up in long queues outside the Estadio da Luz just minutes before their Champions League quarter-final clash against Benfica.
Plenty of Reds travelled to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon to watch the team take on the Primeira Liga side in the all important clash. But what appeared to be large groups were left waiting outside the ground at kick-off.

Pictures shared on social media showed lengthy queues, with one fan saying: "Ground hasn’t got turnstiles so they’re kettling groups and letting them in through a gate a few hundred at a time, disgrace."
Another supporter in Lisbon tweeted a couple of minutes after the game had kicked off and said: "Not even in the stadium yet, checks taking forever this is horrible."
The Athletic's Simon Hughes was also among the supporters stuck outside He said: "Not even that many people behind me. Process seems to be holding everyone back with no filtering system while adding more police, dressed like paramilitaries. Game about to kick off and we’ll miss it."
Football Supporters Europe (FSE) tweeted during the first half of tonight's match to say: "We have been made aware of the unacceptable delays at the entrance of the away sector in Benfica. We are monitoring the situation and liaising with UEFA."
Jurgen Klopp's side take on the Portuguese outfit in the first leg of their quarter-final tie with the reverse fixture at Anfield next Wednesday.
It's the first time the Merseyside club have faced Benfica since the 4-1 Europa League quarter-final at Anfield back in April 2010.
