Liverpool crush LASK to reach Europa League last 16, Marseille advance

Liverpool breezed through to the Europa League round of 16 with a commanding 4-0 victory over Austria's LASK in Group E. Meanwhile, Olympique de Marseille secured a top-two finish in Group B with a thrilling 4-3 win over Ajax Amsterdam.

In Group E, Premier League leaders Liverpool reached 12 points and are set to top the standings, as second-placed Toulouse played out a goalless draw at home against Union Saint Gilloise.

Luis Diaz opened the scoring for Liverpool with a header from Joe Gomez's cross after 12 minutes, and Cody Gapko's tap-in extended the lead three minutes later. Mohamed Salah's penalty early in the second half made it 3-0, and Gapko added his second in stoppage time to complete the comprehensive victory.

In Group B, Marseille advanced from the group stage with a dramatic win over 10-man Ajax. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's hat-trick, completed late in stoppage time, secured the victory for Marseille. Despite Ajax leveling three times, with Brian Brobbey scoring twice, Steven Berghuis' second-half red card following a challenge on Joaquin Correa hindered their efforts.

Villarreal also progressed to the knockout stages with a 3-2 win over Panathinaikos in Group F, despite the Greek side's comeback from 3-0 down. In Group C, Rangers drew 1-1 with Aris Limassol, keeping them in contention for a top-two spot with seven points, one ahead of Sparta Prague, who beat leaders Real Betis 1-0.

Bayern Leverkusen confirmed their place in the round of 16 as Group H winners with a 2-0 win over BK Hacken.

In Group G, AS Roma, with a goal from Romelu Lukaku, drew 1-1 against Servette as Chris Bedia equalized for the Swiss side.

Slavia Prague edged closer to claiming top spot in the group with a 3-2 win over Sheriff, thanks to Muhamed Tijani's stoppage-time penalty.

Both Roma and Slavia Prague are assured of finishing in the top two places in the group, but Slavia holds a two-point advantage heading into the final group games.
