Liverpool 'consider' £105m Juventus offer after Takumi Minamino £17m 'bid'

It’s a huge day for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side face Wolves, hoping that Anfield legend Steven Gerrard can help his Aston Villa team secure a result against Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s men are one point clear of the Reds and the title will be theirs if they beat Villa. However, if they draw or lose and Liverpool win, the Premier League title will be heading to Anfield.

The fact that the title race has even gone down to the final day is remarkable with Klopp’s side having trailed City by 14 points in mid-January. It has been some effort from the Reds as they continue their search for an unprecedented quadruple and they are now 18 Premier League games unbeaten.

They then head to Paris to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final next Saturday. Despite the hugely successful season it has already been, work continues to take place in the background as Liverpool prepare for their summer transfer business.

Who?

Matthijs de Ligt

Where?

Calciomercato

What?

Liverpool are considering joining the race to sign Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, according to reports in Italy.

The 22-year-old, who has made 117 appearances for the Italian side since his €75m move from Ajax in 2019, is facing an uncertain future with rumours circulating that he is seeking a move away from the club. Juventus have offered the defender a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2024. However, this doesn’t include a pay rise, as the Italian club continue to come to terms with the financial implications of Covid-19.

Barcelona are long-term admirers of De Ligt but their financial issues and the Dutchman’s £105.7m release clause are major sticking points. Calciomercato is reporting that both Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the defender and are considering a move. Thomas Tuchel’s side will be looking to replace departing defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is supposedly weighing up a move with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk both over 30. However, it is unclear whether Liverpool would be willing to dedicate such a large chunk of their transfer budget to a position where they are already well stocked with Ibrahima Konate just 22 and having excelled this year. Similarly, Joe Gomez is only 24, and despite being blighted by injuries in recent years, has shown his quality since he joined Liverpool in 2015.

Who?

Andre Trindade

Where?

Netflu

What?

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Fluminese midfielder Andre Trindade, according to Brazillian outlet Netflu.

The young Brazilian star, who goes by the name ‘Andre’, is 20, but has already made 69 appearances for the club. He is a defensive midfielder and would join the large contingent of Brazillian players at Anfield including Alisson, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho which is likely to aid Liverpool’s hopes.

The Reds have a good relationship with Fluminese, having signed highly-rated young goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga from the club in 2020. If Andre was to sign, it would be part of Jurgen Klopp’s wider strategy to bring in talented youngsters to Anfield as he seeks to build another trophy-winning squad. He would be joining a number of other young stars who the Reds have signed already this summer including Fabio Carvalho from Fulham and Ben Doak from Celtic, while there are strong links with Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay.

The Reds will face competition for the Brazilian however, with Ajax, Barcelona and Udinese all linked with the midfielder.

Who?

Takumi Minamino

Where?

Anfield Watch

What?

Inter Milan are interested in signing Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino according to reports.

Having signed for the Reds in 2019, Minamino has endured a mixed time at the club. He struggled initially at Anfield before leaving on loan for Southampton in 2021. However he has played a vital role this season as top scorer in both domestic cup competitions, which Liverpool would go on to win.

And Minamino scored another crucial goal at Southampton for the Reds, netting the equaliser in Tuesday’s 2-1 win to remind everyone of his quality. However, that was just his first Premier League start of the season and he is way down the pecking order at the club. Jurgen Klopp is facing a decision on whether to let him go in the summer.

Inter Milan are considering a £17m move for the midfielder this summer, according to Anfield Watch. The report states that with the club set to miss out on the Serie A title this season to their nearest rivals AC Milan, the Japanese star is seen as an option to improve their squad. However, it remains to be seen whether Klopp decides to keep Minamino to maintain the impressive squad depth that has developed at Liverpool.
