Liverpool have confirmed their shirt numbers for the upcoming campaign with Darwin Nunez handed his first jersey after making the big-money switch from Benfica.
The Reds completed the signing of the 22-year-old midway through last month after he scored 34 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions last season. It has been confirmed that Nunez will don the No.27 shirt following Divock Origi's departure this summer. The Belgian wore the number for six successive years and netted some vitally important goals against Barcelona, Everton and Wolves.
Nunez scored in both legs of Benfica's Champions League quarter-final defeat against the Reds back in April and Liverpool fans will be hoping he can produce some unforgettable moments as Origi did. Other players to wear that shirt include Philipp Degen, Gregory Vignal and Haukur Ingi Gudnason.
Meanwhile, fellow new arrival Fabio Carvalho will wear No.28 - the same number he had at Fulham. The 19-year-old enjoyed a terrific campaign at the Whites and helped them return immediately back to the Premier League.
Ben Davies, who previously wore No.28 during his first 18 months at the club, will now don the No.24 jersey. The defender spent the majority of last season on loan at Sheffield United but has returned to the Reds for pre-season.
Rhian Brewster was the most recent player to wear Davies' new shirt, before the former joined the Blades in a deal worth around £20m in September 2020. Joe Allen and David N'Gog are amongst others to don No.24 in the past.

The final new signing, Calvin Ramsay, has been handed the No.22 shirt following his £6.5m switch from Aberdeen. He is the first outfielder to wear that jersey since Danny Wilson in 2012/13, with Andy Lonergan, Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius the three goalkeepers to most recently don that shirt.
Harvey Elliott is the fifth different shirt change from last season after he swapped No.67 to No.19, following in the footsteps of Sadio Mane. The jersey was used by Mane throughout his first two seasons at Anfield before he decided to take the No.10 shirt. Mane joined Bayern Munich in a £35million deal last month - ending his six-year stay at the Reds following his move from Southampton.
The midfielder made the switch from Fulham in 2019 and has gone to make 20 appearances for the Reds, scoring once. He also spent a season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he directly contributed to 19 goals in 43 games.
