Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of former Leeds United target Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen. The 18-year-old has penned a long-term deal at Anfield and is set to mark the end of their transfer business this summer after the signings of Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez, despite reported interest in Whites winger Raphinha.
Leeds had been locked in a battle with Liverpool over the signing of Ramsay, who is regarded as one of Scottish football’s biggest talents after winning the Scottish Football Writers’ Association’s Young Player of the Year for 2021-22. However, after learning of Ramsay’s preference of joining Liverpool, Leeds moved quickly onto other targets and instead brought in Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg.
However, perhaps more significantly for Leeds, Ramsay is set to be Liverpool’s last signing of the summer transfer window. As aforementioned, Liverpool were one of the sides said to be keen on Raphinha, but according to the Liverpool Echo, their interest now appears to be over.
