Covid infections have fallen by almost a third in the Liverpool City Region.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the Liverpool City Region recorded 8,788 cases in the week ending April 4, which is 4,145 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.
This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 32%. There were falls in each area of the LCR. The falls were: 30% in Knowsley; 29% in Liverpool; 34% in Halton; 35% in St Helens; 32% in Sefton, and 35% in Wirral.

There were also falls in infections in Warrington, West Lancs, and Cheshire West and Chester. Nationally, there was a decrease of 31% in infections in England in the week ending April 4.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 2,536 cases in the week ending April 4, which is 1,010 fewer cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 29%. The latest infection rate was 506.7 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 2,027 cases in the week ending April 4, which is 1,088 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 35%. The latest infection rate was 625.0 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 798 positive tests over the last week - that's 419 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 34% in Halton in the week ending April 4. The latest infection rate is 615.0 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 1,000 cases in the week ending April 4, which is 527 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 552.2 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 35%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 857 cases in the week ending April 4, which is 368 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 562.1 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure went fell by 30%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 1,570 cases in the week ending April 4, which is a 733 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 569.0 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases went down by 32% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 8,788 positive tests over in the week ending April 4, which is 4,145 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change fell by 32%. The latest infection rate is 516.11 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 1,383 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 4, which is 536 fewer cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure fell by 28%. There was an infection rate of 660.47 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 2,357 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 4, which is 1,001 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 685.53 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage fell by 30% in cases.
West Lancs
There were 598 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 4, which is 285 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 522.29 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage fell by 32% in cases.
England
In the week ending April 4, England recorded 326,629 coronavirus cases, which is 149,692 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. There was a week-on-week percentage drop of 31% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 577.59 per 100,000 people.
