Liverpool Bank Holiday weather to be dry but chilly

A fairly dry bank holiday weekend is on the cards but temperatures will be below seasonal average.

The weather has been a mixture of highs and lows so far this year, with record breaking highs recorded in summer. The trend may be carrying on into autumn and winter, as the region currently experiences temperatures below the seasonal average, according to the Met Office.

The forecaster explains that while it will remain quite bright with a few scattered showers and cloud cover across Merseyside, it will be chilly. Temperatures will reach a maximum of only 16C while in the evening it could drop to 2C.

Into the weekend it will be mainly dry with lengthy sunny intervals but it will be cold into the evenings. With some chilly nights predicted there is the chance of overnight mist and fog patches.

Those braving an 11-hour wait across the capital through the night could also experience lower overnight temperatures than they might be used to of late, with these predicted to drop down to single figures. Advising well-wishers to prepare for the conditions, Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: "If you are standing around for a few hours then you will definitely need to wrap up a bit warm.

"It will not be wall-to-wall sunshine. There will be sunny spells through the days and clear spells overnight, but gradually it will get a little bit cooler each day."
