Liverpool and Juventus have reached an agreement on a significant transfer deal involving Federico Chiesa. The deal, valued at £10 million ($13m), includes additional add-ons of £2.5 million based on team performance. Chiesa, a 26-year-old forward, is set to undergo a medical examination in Liverpool to finalize the unexpected move.
Chiesa's departure from Juventus comes as a result of falling out of favor with the club's new coach, Thiago Motta. Despite being in the final year of his contract, Chiesa had attracted interest from other clubs, including a potential €13 million ($14.5m) transfer to Barcelona earlier this month, which ultimately did not materialize.
The Italian forward has faced challenges with injuries, including a lengthy 10-month lay-off due to a cruciate ligament injury, following his participation in Euro 2020 under then-manager Roberto Mancini in 2021. However, Liverpool remains keen on Chiesa due to his established pedigree and versatility on the field.
