Liverpool Airport have made a cheeky dig at Manchester City after their flight back to England was disrupted due to Storm Dudley chaos.
The plane carrying Pep Guardiola 's players and staff was forced to change destination from Manchester to Liverpool on Wednesday, having thrashed Sporting Lisbon 5-0 in the Champions League the previous night.
A statement released on City's official Twitter account read: "We can confirm the plane transporting the first team home from Lisbon has landed safely in Liverpool, after high winds forced a diversion from Manchester."
And that led to Liverpool Airport taking the opportunity for a jibe, tweeting: "Great to safely welcome Manchester City to the football capital of England this afternoon after their flight was diverted from their home airport due to high winds."

Another added: "It's not everyday that you get the Champions in town. I understand why you got giddy."
While both sides challenge at the top of the Premier League table, each of them got their Champions League round-of-16 ties off to a perfect start.
Before the Reds won 2-0 on the road against Inter Milan thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, City ran riot in the Portuguese capital by scoring a whopping four goals in the first half.
But Guardiola was remarkably still not satisfied with his team's performance, admitting: "The result is a dream, but the performance we can do better.
"I am absolutely more than delighted. We were so clinical when we arrived to the goal. We have a duty as a manager and team to analyse."
With two goals, Bernardo Silva was the standout and his boss was full of praise for the playmaker, adding: "I hope he stays at Manchester City for many, many years but he and the club will decide.
"Bernardo is unique. First as a person, his mum and dad have to be so proud because he’s a lovely, lovely person. He’s so generous whether he plays or doesn't play.
"He doesn't just play football, he understands the game. There are players that play good with the ball but he understands every action, like few in the world [do]."
Silva echoed Guardiola's tinge of disappointment, noting: "In the first half we weren't that good. We were a bit sloppy.
"You need some luck to score that many goals from few chances."
