Liverpool have reached an agreement with Monaco for the transfer of Takumi Minamino.
The ECHO understands that a deal has been struck between the two clubs that will see Liverpool receive up to €18million (£15.5m) for the Japan international.
It’s understood that Liverpool will receive £12.9m (€15m) up front from the Ligue 1 club, with up to a further £2.6m (€3m) in add-ons. Minamino is also set to have a medical with Monaco.
The deal represents a decent profit on the £7.25m Liverpool paid Red Bull Salzburg for Minamino back in January 2020. Since then, the 27-year-old has scored 14 goals in 53 appearances for Liverpool. He also played a key role in helping the club win both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during the respective cup runs last season.
However, due to the arrivals of Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho, Minamino’s place in the squad had fallen down the pecking order. Minamino is likely to follow Sadio Mane out the exit door at Anfield, who is set to join Bayern Munich this week.
