The Indianapolis Colts take on the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon in a game that comes with massive implications when it comes to the AFC Divisional race.
While, yes, it is only Week 8 and there are still nine games remaining after this one, a loss by the Colts today would put them in a big hole when it comes to catching the Texans in the division race.
Beyond the Texans improving to 6-2 with a win and the Colts falling to 4-4, Houston would also sweep the season series, along with being 3-0 in the AFC South, while the Colts would sit at 1-3. In terms of potential tie breakers, the Texans would have a major edge.
However, on the flip side, if the Colts can win, they and Houston will be tied on the season overall, have split the season series, and Indianapolis would be 2-2 in the division compared to the Texans, who would be 2-1 in the AFC South with a loss today.
